“For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything.” Hebrews 3:4
Many of you know already, but almost a month ago my husband and I bought our first house. We have lived in three homes now in the 4 1/2 years we’ve been together. First, our apartment. Then our rental home. But this, this is ours. Our first house we own that is under OUR names.
It’s beautiful. It’s everything the Lord had promised to us and more. We were faithful to Him in this process, and He brought us our forever home.
But believe me when I say, the process wasn’t exactly easy the entire time. We looked at total of 10 houses I believe. We went under contract on the first one we looked at. It was perfect but the Lord had bigger plans for us. I don’t mean bigger because that was a ranch style and this one is a tri-level. No, I mean because the Lord knew He wanted us somewhere else. So we prayed very hard and we listened. We canceled our contract and we kept looking. Thank the Lord we had the greatest Realtor in Grand Junction. Shelly took such good care of us the entire time. She was patient, she was excited, and she wasn’t going to rest until we were happy. So Shelly if you read my blog, T H A N K Y O U from the bottom of our hearts. We are so appreciative of your hard work and your heart for your business. Who would have ever thought that my T-ball coach from when I was 5 years old would be the one helping me find my house at 22. Not only did we have an amazing Realtor, we had the most sweetest Lending Company. Unifirst Mortgage took the best care of us as well. I’m so thankful I called Kim. She took care of us as if we were her own children and she made sure we knew exactly what we were getting ourselves into. She was patient with me (many of you know that math and numbers go right over my head) but she was so good with Anthony. He is all about money, numbers, math, I’m pretty sure he could get hired on there he was so understanding of it all. So again, praise the Lord that He gave me a genius husband to understand things that I don’t. But the entire process would not have been as rewarding if we didn’t have the help from these two fantastic ladies. We are forever grateful for them.
We finally closed on our house July 14, 2017. The best Friday we have had in our entire lives. The moment they handed us the key and we became official as a pickle, we were so overjoyed. We hugged everyone and thanked them for helping us. Then we got into the car and we kissed and hugged and we gave all the glory to God. Without Him, we wouldn’t have been brave enough to jump into this journey. But we trust Him with our finances and we knew that we wouldn’t have to worry because He will always take care of us. So we jumped and here we are. Homeowners at the ages of 23 and 22 with only a house payment as our debt.
But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. Jeremiah 17:7
The moving began immediately. We painted the bedrooms, we shampoo the carpets, we revamped the fire-place, and then with the help of great family members we moved everything in within one day. So Rick, Joseph Todd, Dad, Pancho, thank you for your trucks and trailers. Thank you Mom for fitting as many things as possible into your car. Thank you Sheli and Pete for helping us paint. Thank you Grandma Gwen and Papa Gus for helping us and providing lunch that day. Thank you Patrick and Tevis for coming by and helping with things. Thank you Conner and Tay for stopping by and supporting the progress. Our home is a home because of all the love that went into it. I hope that our home never becomes too small that it can’t hold all our beloved friends and family in it.
Within the few weeks we have hung pictures and had family meals together. We’ve already filled the rooms with laughter and started some memories. And at the end of each night, we thank God for every inch of wall and roof we have. We thank Him for the safe neighborhood to raise kids in one day, for the yard big enough to play with our dog, a deck for entertaining, and for keeping all His promises to us.
Commit your work to the Lord and your plans will succeed. Proverbs 16:3
I look forward to all the memories to come in this new home. Bringing home our first baby, the first Christmas tree lit up in the front window, the first set of Trick-or-Treaters at our front door, the first swimming party, and more.
I’m sorry that I hadn’t made a post in so long. But as you can see, I’ve been busy counting my blessings ❤
